(Shaw Farm Gate to RH Cricket Club) Inside Windsor Castle grounds
Note: Royalty Protection are expecting us to arrive at the 'Shaw Farm
Gate' entrance between 1.00pm and 1:20pm, so try to time your journey
appropriately. It could take anywhere from 5-10 mins to get from the entrance to
the ground, depending on how many cars are entering at the same time, or any
holdups with ID, etc.
It doesn't
matter if you arrive well before or a little bit after that time, as they only
require a rough idea of our arrival, but they will be expecting us then, as they
have other people who enter the Castle grounds on the same day at the same gate.
Once through the gate, follow the signs to the 'Sports Ground' where you'll see
the cricket ground car park.
It's best to check the 'Google Maps' link at the bottom of this page and do it
well before you depart on Saturday to see if there are any traffic jams on the M4,
which is not uncommon. Also Royal Household will expect the game to start
punctually at 2pm. We don't want to get a bad reputation!
Using SatNav
If you are using a SatNav don't punch in the address above, (although it will
get you close), put in the co-ordinates below the address above, and it will take you
directly to 'Shaw Farm Gate', (at least it does on Google Maps and TomTom). This is the only
entrance that allows us access into Windsor Castle.
The best route is around the back of the Castle (south side) to avoid the
tourist area which will be pretty busy on a Saturday. To do this you need to exit
the M4 at Junction 5, signposted 'Eton
B470'. If the initial Google Maps driving route doesn't have you exiting
at M4, Junction 5, then drag the route to exit off the M4 at Junction 5. If not,
it will take you through the tourist area, which will delay your arrival.

UNDERGROUND TRAINS
None
OVERGROUND TRAINS
Windsor & Eton Central
or Windsor & Eton Riverside
Both stations are on adjacent sides of Windsor Castle and either one is fine
for 'tourist-ing' if you want to have a look around Windsor Castle and the City
Centre before the match, or get a bite to eat. If you are going to get there an
hour or so before arrival at the ground, I would probably get off at Windsor &
Eton Riverside station, have a look around the river area, then walk up the hill
towards the City Centre and main gate of Windsor Castle, then head off to the
'Shaw Farm Gate' from there.
However, Windsor & Eton Central station is closer to the 'Shaw Farm Gate'
entrance if you are going straight to the ground upon arrival off the train. You
will need to be at 'Shaw Farm Gate' by at least 1pm, or whatever time you agreed
with your designated vehicle that you named on the Security Sheet.
